The Warren Youth Basketball Association (WYBA) is proud to announce that it’s time for Recreational Youth Basketball in Warren! The primary objectives of the program are to:
- Have fun (children and adults)!
- Teach and practice the ideals of sportsmanship;
- Teach and learn how to play as part of a team;
- Teach and learn the game of basketball, and grow in skill level and self-confidence;
- Inspire our children to participate in this healthy group activity.
Recreational Team programs will normally run from the middle of December through March. Each team will consist of approximately eight players. The recreational program is a “fun” league with less emphasis on being competitivethan the travel program, and is geared towards maximizing participation, learning, and fun as opposed to winning every game. The recreational program for this year will include the following grades:
Boys & Girls – 3rd & 4th grades, 5th & 6th grades, and 7th & 8th grades
Skills evaluation sessions will commence on Tuesday, November 13th and run through Saturday, November 17th, with the schedule as shown below. Participants are required to attend at least one session, and are encouraged to attend both. These are not try-outs: anyone who wishes may participate in this program. These sessions are conducted to ensure all teams are roughly evenly matched in skills level, to ensure an enjoyable experience for all program participants.

Schedules:
Team practices are one evening per week, Mondays through Thursdays. Games are held once per week on Friday nights or on Saturdays. Specific practice and game times depend on age group, and will be distributed after teams are selected.
